Divemaster is the first step in becoming a Scuba Professional.  The resposibilities of Padi Dive master are considerable,  however the rewards in terms of personal satisfaction and achievemant,  are unparalleled.  You will have the opportunity to assist entry-level students both in the classroom and pool as well as in open water.  Further more you will learn advanced navigation,  boat diving operations,  and many more skills that will qualify you as a Dive Leader.

The Dive Master Course is divided into Knowledge development,  water skills and stamina and practical application.  The knowledge development is divided into twelve topics that you undertake exams on.  The Water Skills and Stamina section is designed to develop your overall water skills and to improve existing scuba skills.  In the practical application section you will undertake a mapping project,  underwater problem solving exercise,  implementing a dive master conducted program and managing a dive accident scenario.

 

Course Information
Pre-requisites – You need to have PADI Rescue Diver certification or equivalent,  minimum age of 18 yrs,  a minimum of 20 logged dives at commencement of the course and a current First Aid certification.  A current Dive Medical or copy thereof must be provided.  In order to complete your PADI Divemaster certification you will need to have 60 logged dives.  We can arrange any additional dives you may need to acquire these 60 dives at very competitive prices.

Duration/Times – The course schedule will be decided upon between you and the instructor and normally takes 8 – 10 days depending on whether you need to do your First Aid Course as well.

What to Bring – 2 Passport Photos,  Rescue Diver Card,  Log Book,  Bathers & 2 Towels,  Pen & Writing paper or notepad.

Course Cost – The course cost is $1220.00,  which includes gear hire,  transfers,  some air fills, instruction and tuition. It is strongly recommended that as a Divemaster candidate that you do purchase your own equipment. Bayplay has an extensive range of dive equipment to choose from so please take the time to speak to one of our Instructors about your needs.

 

Additional Costs                 NB. Prices Subject to change
Books ($170) – The three Divemaster books you are required to buy for the course form the foundation of your future diving library and are an invaluable source of information.

First Aid Qualification ($120) – It is a requirement that Divemasters hold at least a level 2 in First Aid. Bayplay offers level 2 first aid courses should you require it.

Oxygen Provider ($65) – It is vital that a Divemaster know how to administer Oxygen and it is also a requirement.

DAN Evacuation Insurance (Varies) – Not required, but highly recommended. Speak to the course instructor about the options available.

Public Liability Insurance (Approx $320) – Payable directly to PADI, a requirement to operate in most countries. Price varies depending on time of year.
