PADI Open Water Course

Discover what lies beneath! Learn how to dive, discovering and interacting with the amazing diversity of marine life to be found in the underwater world. Successful completion of the PADI Open Water Course qualifies you to dive independently to a depth of 18 meters in open water and is an internationally recognised passport to dive throughout the world!

 

The 3-4 day course involves developing theoretical knowledge behind scuba diving through interacting with your instructor, watching the PADI Go Dive Open Water DVD, home study and completing knowledge reviews. Throughout the course knowledge development is conduted in the comfort of a classroom environment.

 

Confined water dives are conducted in the heated on site Bayplay dive training pool under the direct supervision of your professionally qualified PADI Instructor. This enables skill development and safe diving procedures to become second nature in a controlled environment.

 

You will complete four open water dives, including one boat dive. This exciting stage of the course provides a perfect opportunity for you, under direct supervision of your dive instructor, to complete skills learn't in the training pool environment and to adapt them to an open water scenario.

Duration/Times: The course takes 3 - 4 days and runs as follows: 

  • 1st weekend of the month - Saturday, Sunday, Monday
  • 2nd weekend of the month - Friday, Saturday, Sunday
  • Mid week from Tuesday to Thursday.

NB: Participants can choose to do the course over 2 weekends on Saturday, Sunday and the following Sunday. 
Course Dates may alter due to demand. The 4th day is allocated in case of bad weather.

Dive students are to arrive by 8.45am on the first day of the course, unless advised otherwise.  Your course will finish at approximately 6pm each evening.

Pre Requisites: A Dive Medical needs to be completed prior to commencing the course by a certified Dive Doctor. Our local Dive Doctor is Dr Westlake Ph 5984 4620, based in Portsea, or you can geta list of Dive Doctors from the web at www.spums.org.au

Please Bring:

  • Dive medical completed by a dive doctor,
  • 2 passport photos - available at chemists or photo shops
  • Pen, paper and highlighter
  • Swim Wear, Sunscreen, Towel
  • Completed Knowledge Reviews (at the end of each chapter of your dive manual

If they are not completed, you may not be able to join the coursel) you have requested and will be rescheduled as best suits. Dive Table questions will be done in class along with all quizzes.


Price:    $560.00 including a PADI Open Water Dive Manual, Recreational Dive Planner and a Divers Log Book. 
NB: The dive manual will be sent to you prior to the start of the course.

Affordable accommodation is available at Bayplay Dive Resort:
Shared Room:  $35.00 per person per night for multiple nights
Private Room:  from $75.00 twin share per night

Available for Purchase:
Underwater cameras, masks, fins, booties as well as an extensive range of other dive equipment is available for purchase. Please take the time to speak to one of our Instructors about your needs.  Dive and Travel insurance is highly recommended.

 

Terms and conditions:
A 50% non refundable deposit is required to secure your reservation. If an activity is cancelled due to weather conditions, the activity booking will be rescheduled. Refunds will not be issued. In the instance of a no show, Refunds will not be issued. Reservations confirmed by cheque cannot be guaranteed until the cheque is cleared. Bayplay reserves the right to cancel bookings under extenuating circumstances.
