Rock Pool Ramble

Â
The Rock Pool Ramble is a program in which students get to learn about the ecosystems and ecology of the inter-tidal zone.
Â
It's a fun hands-on experience where students identify species and for each tidal level:
- The environmental dangers for the species living there
- How they are adapted to the environment
- What each species eats and who eats them
The guide will then discuss food webs and interactions with the kids before dividing them into smal groups and letting them explore the rock pools to find their own ecosystems.
Â
Finally, the kids will discuss the rocky shores, their importance (social, economical and cultural), the problems they face (harvesting, development, climate change), and how to protect them.
Â
The Rock Pool Ramble is a great activity that could be part of a science camp, as well as a geography or more specifically marine biology camp.
