For those wishing to dive into the underwater world and venture amongst natures finest, Scuba Diving is for you. No certification or past experience is required. Beautiful soft coral and unique marine life including highly sought after Weedy Sea Dragons are sure to amaze whilst under the direct supervision of our highly experienced professional dive team.

Adventure Details
Session 1:
   Learn the basic theory behind scuba diving in the comfort of a class room environment.
Session 2:   Now we move to the Bayplay pool blowing bubbles in shallow water allowing a comfortable transition to the underwater world. Here we introduce the skills necessary to maximize safety and comfort for the amazing dive ahead.
Session 3:   It's time to meet the marine life. Visit the Weedy Sea Dragon Colony or Octopus and Seahorse garden. This you will never forget!

When you head into the town of Portsea, we are on the left hand side - the last shop on the left.

Includes:  Equipment hire & air fill,  Scuba dive thoery session,  pool session and an ocean dive to the Weedy Sea Dragon Colony or the Octopuses & Sea Horse Garden.

What to Bring:  Bathers, Towel, and Sunscreen.

Participant ConditionsParticipants need to be aged 12 and above. You will need to have basic swimming skills.  If you suffer from diabetes, epilepsy, asthma, heart or lung problems then you may need to consult a Doctor prior to the course and provide a written Medical Certificate on arrival.  Our local Dive Doctor is Dr Westlake Ph 5984 4620 and is based in Portsea.  Visit www.spums.org.au for additional Dive Doctors in Melbourne.

Terms and ConditionsA 50% non refundable deposit is required to secure your reservation. If an activity is cancelled due to weather conditions, the activity booking will be rescheduled. Refunds will not be issued. In the instance of a no show, Refunds will not be issued. Reservations confirmed by cheque cannot be guaranteed until the cheque is cleared. Bayplay reserves the right to cancel bookings under extenuating circumstances. Gift Vouchers are valid for 6 months from date of purchase.

Frequently Asked Questions

1. How old do you need to be?

The minimum age is ten, but it does depend on the child’s level of maturity and physical strength.

We do offer a Pool only dive adventure for children for $30 that covers basic theory and then gives them the opportunity to have a dive experience in the pool.  With all participants under 18 years of age who are diving, a parent or legal guardian must be available to sign the paperwork.

2. Do you need to have dived before?
No you don’t.  We cater for people who haven’t even snorkeled before. All skills required will be taught on the day of the activity.

3. How many can do it?
The group ratio is 4 divers to 1 Instructor or six divers to an Instructor with a Dive Master assisting. Ratios are set to maximize divers safety, comfort and enjoyment. Groups are more than welcome and are broken into the correct ratios for the pool and dive component. 

4. What do I need to bring?
Bring a towel, bathers, and something dry to wear afterwards. Self catering applies, please be sure to bring money to purchase or a packed lunch.

5. Do I need to be able to swim?
Not strictly, but it is preferable to have some basic confidence in the water.  A one on one dive can be arranged for those with a fear of water/swimming/claustrophobia.

6. Is it cold?
Scuba Diving wetsuits and hoods are supplied providing warmth to all participants. 

7. Is all the gear provided?
Yes, all required equipment and materials are supplied. 

8. Is lunch provided?
No. Time is made available for a lunch break. Please be sure to bring money to purchase from the local shops or a packed lunch.
