Snorkelling

The waters off the Victorian Coastline are home to some of the most diverse invertebrate life anywhere in Australia. Included are some of the most spectacular and important ecosystems in the world. The Marine Education Snorkel day is a day in which Students are introduced to that marine world via in-water snorkel exploration and class presentation. Not only do they observe the aquatic realm, students also gather a range of marine biodiversity information, marine life identification techniques and basic snorkeling skills depending on the program you choose.

We aim to utilize the knowledge gathered to support the sustainable use and protection of the marine environment through innovation, excitement and fun.

Bayplay also offers a series of multimedia presentations as part of the product range. These presentations explain the unique underwater flora and fauna to students who can then associate the images with the creatures/environments they are visiting whilst snorkelling.

Session 1	Introduction to Snorkelling and/or Sea Dragons - 1 hour
Â	Students are given a PowerPoint presentation on sea dragons. They are then briefed on how to search for sea dragons and record numbers, gender, Habitat, behavior Â
Session 2	Pool Training - 1 hour
Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â Â	Take the plunge in our scuba training pool. Practice the skills required and get used to the equipment before your ocean snorkel ( Can be done in our private pool, school pool or in the ocean)* Â
Session 3	Snorkel with Dragons - 2 hours
Â	We take you on a guided Eco Snorkel in Port Phillip Bay to visit our famous Weedy Sea dragons and to introduce you to all our other reef creatures. Gathering data along the way , we then can fill out the Dragon Search forms at the end of our tour. Information is then collated and entered into research databases. Â
Session 4	Snorkel with Seals - 2 hours
Â	A guided snorkel tour by Boat to Popes Eye Marine Park and the Seals.
